- "What is the difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist?"

There is no difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist. Podiatry is the term used by the rest of the world for the study of feet and about 15-20 years the title of Chiropody was replace of Podiatry, but we still use both titles as everyone still associates the Chiropodist as the person that treats feet.

- So "What is Podiatry?"

Podiatry or Podiatric Medicine is a field of healthcare devoted to the study and treatment of disorders affecting the lower extremities (e.g. foot, ankle, knee and hip). Therefore, the Podiatrists aim is to improve the mobility, independence and quality of life for their patients by providing preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the lower limbs.

Therefore, Podiatry can help any age group with:

Nail concerns - ingrowing nails,
Callous/Corns,
Foot Hygiene,
Verruca,
Joint deformities/pain,
Ulcers,
Skin concerns,
Sports injuries

I hope to begin a new service foot clinic in February 2010 at the new Alternative Vitality shop in Wick
