3rd May 2024

Transport Scotland is investing a total of £185,000 to carry out essential surfacing improvements on the #A9 north of Inverness at three locations: south of Achrimsdale, Dunbeath and Georgemas Junction.

The works will be carried out by BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland's trunk road operator.

Overnight resurfacing works on the northern A9 have changed:

📍 Achrimsdale - 19 to 23 May 2024
Full road closure from 7pm to 6am with hourly amnesty periods between 8pm and 4am for escorted passage through the work zone.

📍 Georgemas Junction - 21 to 22 May 2024
Full road closure from 7pm to 6am with hourly amnesty periods between 8pm and 4am for escorted passage through the work zone.

📍 Dunbeath - 22 to 24 May 2024
Full road closure from 7pm to 6am with hourly amnesty periods between 8pm and 4am for escorted passage through the work zone.

It is recommended that drivers arrive in good time for the amnesties to guarantee access. Outside of working hours, the road will be open with a reduced speed limit of 30mph due to the temporary road surface.
