'Move on Up' in the Highlands

1st December 2012

Inverness careers fair to help local youngsters into work or training.

Winter school leavers and young job seekers from the Highland area are being invited to take part in a ‘Move on Up’ event which will give them an insight into the range of opportunities available to them in employment, training and learning.

‘Move on Up’ will take place on Thursday, December 6, from 1pm until 4pm in The Ironworks, Academy Street, Inverness.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Highland-based training providers, Inverness College, Jobcentre Plus and Baltic Training have joined forces to organise this informal, café-style event.

There will be the chance for young people to try a range of activities, including printing, and each of the exhibitors will give short presentations on their services. There will also be live demonstrations of SDS’s My World of Work web service which will allow young people to explore, support and progress their career planning.

Jane Weir, SDS team leader, said:"Move on Up is a unique opportunity for young job seekers to meet with local training providers, local colleges and other organisations all under the one roof. Young people will be able to take part in fun activities, while finding out essential information about career opportunities to suit them."

Each young person who comes along to the event will be offered follow-up support by a Skills Development Scotland adviser to help them progress their career plans. For further information and advice visit: www.myworldofwork.co.uk
