Digital Switchover Completed

Digital TV switchover in Scotland is now complete, extending coverage and choice to an extra one million viewers previously unable to receive digital television through an aerial.

Paul Hughes, National Manager of Digital Uk said "I'm delighted to say that Scottish viewers responded extremely well and coped with these changes without any great difficulty. Luke McCullough, Help Scheme National Manager, and I would like to
take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped with switchover, including the SCVO and voluntary sector organisations across the country that helped to ensure the success of over 500 community events. We would also like to pay tribute to our partner organisation Arqiva, who upgraded more than 200 transmitters with minimal disruption to viewers. Local retailers and installers, housing providers, charities and an army of relatives, friends and good neighbours across the country have all played their part."

So far, more than 115,000 older and disabled people in Scotland have taken up help from the Switchover Help Scheme, which is still open to STV Central viewers. Eligible people in the STV Central region who have not yet switched can apply to the Help Scheme until 22 July 2011 (one month after the last transmitter in the STV Central TV region switched to digital).
