Caithness Heat And Power Identifies Preferred Bidder

Ignis Energy Ltd has been invited by The Highland Council to be its Preferred Bidder to take over the district heating scheme - Caithness Heat and Power Ltd.
The Board of Caithness Heat and Power Ltd (CHAP) has written to 260 householders who receive their heat and hot water through CHAP informing them of plans to work with the Council and Ignis aiming to agree a contract by 31 March 2011.
In a letter to householders CHAP's Company Secretary informed them that at the time of signing of a contract the responsibility for provision of heat and hot water would pass to Ignis.
Householders were informed that they would soon receive a letter direct from Ignis. The letter will explain the company's proposals in more detail, followed by public meetings in the New Year and the opportunity for one-to-one discussions with representatives from Ignis and the Council.
The letter stated that: "the focus of the meetings and discussions will be to explain the service standards and tariffs which Ignis will provide and to set out the benefits to customers of signing a heat and supply contract with Ignis."
