Met Office Weather Warnings Now In Place For Later In The Week

Thursday 25th November
Valid for Highland, Grampian, Angus, East Lothian and Scottish Borders

Heavy Snow Thu 25 Nov
There is a moderate risk of severe weather on Thursday.
There is potential for snow showers to become frequent in places giving localised accumulations of 2-5 cm of snow inland with 10 cm or more on high ground in northeast England and Scotland.

Icy stretches may develop on untreated surfaces.

Friday 26th November
Valid for Orkney, Shetland, Highland and Grampian
Blizzards & Heavy Snow Fri 26 Nov
There is a moderate risk of severe weather on Friday.
There is potential for snow showers to become frequent in places giving further localised accumulations of 2-5 cm of snow inland with 10 cm on high ground. In addition, a strengthening northerly wind may lead to blizzard conditions and drifting, particularly on high ground.

Icy stretches may develop on untreated surfaces.

Saturday 27th November
Valid for Orkney, Shetland, Highland, Grampian, Tayside, Fife, Central, Lothian & Borders
Heavy Snow Sat 27 Nov
There is a moderate risk of severe weather on Saturday.
There is potential for snow showers over much of the north and east of the UK, with accumulations of 1-5 cm of snow in places, and with as much as 10 cm on hills in northern Britain.

Icy stretches may develop on untreated surfaces.

The forecast snow accumulations are not unusual for Scotland in winter and, as the snow will be falling in showers, some parts of the areas included are likely to see little or no snow. The Advisories have been issued to highlight that this is the first snow of this winter which is likely to accumulate at lower levels and affect populated areas.
